Abstract
With an increasing recognition of the importance of early detection and prevention of disease, health screening has been paid more attention. Since health screening contains both benefit and harm, the successfulness of health screening depends on the balance between benefit and harm. To maximize the benefit and minimize the harm, therefore, the quality of health screening should be managed through the quality management system and assessment of the program. At present, the self-regulated quality management is merely administered by the associated research groups. The absence of total quality management system results in large gaps for agreement rates of positive results in each institution. This study, therefore, examined the status and problem of quality management in the institution conducting health screening and suggested the future direction of quality management. In addition, this study provided the role of National Health Insurance Corporation to implement the total quality management system for the better quality management in institution¡¯s screening process.
